Life Begins at 37yrs for Me

Standard

So when I was growing up my mom spend lots of her time trying to comb and do everything to get my hair to grow. The years that I remember are on Sundays when  my haur is washed and braided into two pony tails and ready for school week.

So imagine a long curly hair girl.

Then I became a teenager and I saw all my teenage friends who had hair with strict hair. So I decided to try that out. So I put a perm in my hair to get all my curls out and get a straight sleek haur. .at least so I thought. No one could change my mind. I was on a mission. I remember my grandmother was not happy with what I had done since she always thought my long curly hair was so pretty and said if I ever  have to cut it she will be able to use it for her hair.

I think since the day I put the perm in my hair I was doomed for saloon days in my adult years.

I can tell you I enjoyed my routine years of going to the salon every Thursday. But that comes with a cost.

Now I am 37yrs old and one dawn I was laying in bed in Lima and it hit me that I should shave my hair off…wit no reason. But knowing that my husband always loves my long hair I have to find a reason to get his support. That’s marriage it’s make sure you can sell your partner on your idea with love and respect.

I think at about 1am I sent a whatsapp message to my husband ( he was is the states) and I said I am aware you love long hair, but I need your support on this one. I want to shave my hair off.

And my husband replied and said ” hun I support you 100% with whatever you choose to do with your hair…you are beautiful either way.”

I woke up the next morning and went to the salon and shaved my hair off. I will share pictures of my hair before the shave. I wish I have an old picture of my curly days.

So I say life can begin any moment when you are ready to just be…with or without hair.

Then I sat in the chair Sept. 1st 2016

The next day…I felt like I was going back for more cuts…

The next day adventures. …

Then 2 days later…side shave…lol…yea..at this point am getting really adventurous

And 3 days later…even more shave and secret extension added to create a little more excitement at the front…

Let’s see what tomorrow will bring me…I may just go all out…and shave everything off…

Life is truly what you make it…so enjoy and live fully.

Making Friends

Standard

It’s one of the human needs…it’s being able to meet someone and create a relationship that will last you a life time. Now you may never spend time with them like you would with the definition given to that word called “Friends” but in my opinion anyone you say hello too or just smiles with through passing is a friend.

While we travel, my family and I are creating life long friends every day. Starts from the immigration officer who stamped our passport and welcomed us into their country. Then you have the driver who picked us up from the airport told us about some story behind the buildings. Then you have the security guard at our apartment, our apartment host, then people we meet each moment that we are blessed with life. That is what I consider as friends.

Imagine my kids…growing up and staying in touch with all the people they have met while travelling through the world…it’s amazing and such an incredible feeling.

I want to share a few pictures of our friends we have made in buenos Aries Argentina.

Meeting Homeschool Families all around the globe

Standard

That is the new trend when you homeschool your kids. You meet so many other kids across the globe. So you see where am coming from…there nothing like the questions most people ask when they first find out we homeschool our kids…the famous question is “what about socializing” well of anything homeschool have a whole lots of time on their hands to meet and make at least 10 friends a day and with technology stay in touch for the rest of their lives….ok so let’s get to the fun part of me sharing out day out…

On an ordinary sunday no homework needed or no preparing for going to school the next day.  We met with the Argentina homeschool group here. And such amazing families. Our kids clicked right away even with the language barrier.

We spent the day at the famous recolleta cemetery which is where they bury dignitaries and important personalities. It was creepy and weird…but very interesting place to visit.

Some of the perks in travelling is being able to catch shows that you may not not get to see in your country of origin like mine Ghana…

Yesterday as we are doing our intense spanish lesson our spanish teacher who is amazing mentioned to us that she 6 tickets to see the show Kooza cirque du soleil. ..

So we decided hey why not do that since it’s a holiday in  BA anyways.

So in the evening we made our way to the location and it was a jaw dropping show for sure…watching my 6yr old look so amazed by what the people are doing on stage.

A Sneak Peak of The City

Standard

So every country has its perks and in the City of Buenos Aires the perks are in the form of the beautiful acient buildings that each tells a beautiful story from the past.

Also in each country we appreciate what that country offers and one of them is the free walking tour. Across the globe there is a company or I should a group of dedicated people who are willing to show you their country and after the tour yoy basically put a value on the tour and tip them.

Now Buenos Aries is pretty cold this time of the year so taking a free walking tour can be a little challenging especially when you just coming from Brazil in the hot times.  But we made it and it was worth the walk with just a few of us turning blue…lol!!!

Here are a few pictures of the city of Buenos Aires….

The Ups and Down of Countries

Standard

So if you have read my blog you will see that Brazil was tough for me especially since we had the language issues and also my experience with the post office team. Well that went all away when I made great friends that made all seem like it was worth the wait to make amazing friends.

Well in Argentina it’s very differnt since there is no wait and not much I can do…lol!!!

The dog shit on the side walks are outrageous stinky….my goodness…every step you take there is a potential of you stepping in a fresh dog shit…lol! And it smells awful. Their law of picking up after your dog poop is not enforced or practiced like Rio.

So if you do decide to visit Argentina just be mindful where you step because  if you step in any of this poops you will be cleaning for months just to get the smell off you. It’s so bad my 13yr old decided to write in her business letter for school, she wrote to the road and transportation department  here to talk about ways to enforce the law of picking up after your dog on the street.

Now that we are done talking about dog poop…let’s talk about people…the Argentines are really nice people and willing to help lost people like me and my family. So I say thanks for that….

Now let me tell you about the other people that am not sure if they are Argentines  (they actually are ) the taxi drivers…oh they are like silent killers…slowly draining every pesos out of you before you exit their taxi.
I took a taxi one time going from a mall that is about 10min from my house…..and with the meter on, the taxi took me around circles for at least 1hour…I saw the same buildings at least 3 times and a bill that would have cost me $4 ended up costing me $19 after he dropped me home. Oh I was furious and asked him why are we going circles and of course at this point he acted like he did not even understand any english…lol!!
It’s so bad that they will go that extreme just to make money that they don’t deserve.

So now I am all about Uber which is what I take anyways until I can’t get uber. But uber just started 3 months ago here so the taxis don’t like them and are messing up uber drivers car if you come to pick up someone around a place filled with taxi drivers. But am really all for uber.

Anyways I guess over all the dog poop is the only one I can’t seem to avoid….lol!!!!

But we do love Argentina and the Argentines

Argentina Exploration Continues…..

A beautiful City

Standard

Buenos Aries is such a beautiful city filled with so many restaurants and the people here are super nice and helpful….but Lord the taxi drivers are crooks….lol!!! They will take you all around the city of Buenos Aires just to bring you back to a place that is just 5min drive from your location.
Thank God for uber. I and my kids feel a little less duped.

But the people here are so helpful and excited to know that we are from Ghana. Technically the Argentines are also Americans so being from America does not offer any perks but being from Ghana west africa seem to make them smile and ask how Ghana is. If it hot or cold.

So we have been here for exactly 7days. It’s cold but it’s so beautiful with all the leaves fallen.

We have yet to do the things that Argentina has to offer for tourist. So soon we will do that.

In each city we look up for the famous free walking tour and we join in to learn about the cultures in each country. So in Buenos Aires we plan to do that next week.

Here are a few pictures of the most visit city in south America buenos Aries.
