Today was probably one of my memorable days in Bangkok…
Well a week before I was on the train with my kids. And Mj my 5 yr old who just loves to talk to everyone he sees. There was a lady seating next us and my son started showing her the map and just chatting with her.
So as a natural way of things I also started making conversations with her. The cut the story shorter than short. We ended up spending the whole day with her. A very lovely lady from Israel who is visiting Bangkok with her husband and they are here for 10days.
So after the day we decided to organise dinner so our husbands can meet.
So after all the meeting Shira my new life long friend from Israel and I decided to take the Thai cooking class.
Oh this lady was super cool. The teacher, she basically took us to the Market and we shopped and asked all our questions about thai food and spices.
I can now make Thai Papaya salad and also make another dish that Shira and I actually added a little twist to it and call it fish around the world. We also cooked shrimp in red curry paste. Yummy and really truly a fun filled day for the two of us.
Here are some pictures of our teacher and her name is May she has a Facebook page called Thai cooking school. Check her out if you are in Bangkok. It makes me now appreciate Thai food even more.
At the market shopping for our groceries..
Now this was awful to look at…
I loved this stand…fresh fish and fillet for you
Turtle…Thai people buy baby turtle and they let it loose in the river it’s a believe that it’s for good luck. So this is for sale but not for eating.
Ok those…I almost threw up…gutted frogs…
Lots of veggie options
And that’s their sweets…Lots of colors
Grilled banana…
Me and my new life long friend
It was not easy pounding this stuff…making fresh red curry paste. And we are told in the olden days in Bangkok a man choose his wife with this activity….how much noise she can make when pounding the paste with the stone morta….I probably will still be single based on that…because my arm was tired after a few pounds. LOL! !
And our curry is on the fire
That’s our around the world fish prep
Time to trying our around the world fish dish…yummy
And we are all done and happy with our teacher…we have our foods in our bag to take home and share with our family…great day teacher.
Friends all around the Globe…

Wow!!!
That’s all we can say…Bangkok Street food is yummy…our family seem to be getting very addicted to all the varieties we get from Bangkok Street food.
Check this pictures out. Went out with my oldest Destiny and we will sure be back at that place. Tasty and flavorful.
The street food stand
You pick live seafood and they grill right in front of you. 5min and your freshly grilled seafood is served…awesome…
Grilled river shrimp…
Grill pineapple chicken..yummy!!!

Banana wrap up and sprinkle with condensed milk…yummy

My little world explorer is loving Thailand….who said homeschool kids don’t get to socialize…the kid is on the street talking to Thai people about everything. Now that is super exciting.
Bangkok rocks….

So our first day we needed to go to the grocery store for some stuff.
So we took the BTS sky train to E9 which is about 2 stops away from our apartment.
We went to Tesco Lotus store
It was huge…my goodness…LOL!!!
And so many options to choose from. Fresh fish ( which can be grilled right there for you….at the grocery store) But we found out that Tesco is one of the cheapest way to shop for groceries so I think I will be there more often. Also found out that you can shop for your groceries online and for $1.80 they will deliver all your groceries to your home….Now that convenient shopping…
Below are some more random photos to share
Sawdsdi ( Sawadikaaa) meaning Hello in Thai…
So after a long street food hunt we woke up the next day at 12noon, so tired but for some reason being tired produces more energy for a city like Bangkok.
We got up and walked back ont the street. We had a great lunch.
Then we went to the BTS station ( sky train station) to buy our train pass…That was a funny adventure since we had not idea how to communicate with the people what we really wanted…LOL!!
But we finally go through by using an app on my Samsung Note 4 phone called Translate….it really helped since you can type in english and choose the language you want it to translate into for you and this time we choose Thai.
So for 6 BTS pass and some money on it we paid 1,200 Baht ( $36) so we are all set to travel around the Sukumvit area.
We got on the BTS at the station called ….Name below in this picture
So we got on the BTS and headed to Terminal 21 which is one of their biggest malls in Bangkok. We got off at E4 which is right in front of the mall.
The mall was huge with 10 levels and each level is labeled like a country. So they had Istanbul, San Francisco, London, Paris, Rome, India, Caribbean, Food court, Hollywood and a parking lot .
The place was a shopping definitely for shoppaholics…LOL!!!
At the food court they do not take cash at the food stands you will have to buy a food card ( the card is free ) but you load it with some money. We bought 2 cards and loaded it with $12 ( which is 700 baht). The card expires in 30days but if after that day you still have money on it you can take it to them and they will give you cash back. So its great to have that if you do visit Terminal 21.
Now this was really new to me…the food court was packed with options of foods and one that I really loved was the healthy fries….yeap healthy fries…
This was at a place called Mama Monkey. They have fried bananas like french fries and, fried banana cheese balls. everything is based on using banana.
As we walked around the food court we realized 99% of the things they eat are so healthy…lots of fruits and veggies. lots of smoothie stands freshly made. So you know us we had to try some and it was really good.
We can live here for years…..
With lights all over the place our faces are filled with smiles and ready to explore the city of Bangkok.
After we checked into our new home for 2 months.
We walked about 5min from our apartment to the buzzing streets of Bangkok and at 10pm the place was filled with people and cars tooting all over the place and street food was freshly made.
We had so many options to choose from and we looked like kids in a candy shop. LOL!!
We decided to sit and have some street food. This lady in the pictures below made the food for us while we wait. From the fresh shrimps and chicken and all that fresh veggies.
Each plate of food was 50 Baht ( $1.49 ) so for our plates we got we paid $5.96 and that was our dinner and everyone was super full. our 4 bottles of small bottles of water was $.83 cents….Now that is what we call street food at a low low price.
Bangkok here we come with food exploration
