Well some pictures below will give you glimpse of our earthquake drill in Makati phillippines today. Which was a nation wide drill.

With so many kids we had to balance the family dynamics. So hubby and I decided to create daddy dates…this is usually done once a month per kid.

So on daddy dates Marcus will take whoever is in line ( from oldest to youngest )and  that child gets dressed up and ready for a date with their daddy alone.

Our son get boys day out with daddy and he absolutely loves that so much,  it has become a great motivating factor for some homeschool work.

Well so today was Aasha’s date night (Aasha is our 12yr old girl).

What I enjoy most in our travels

Standard

Lots people I meet ask me 2 questions….

1. How do you all do this, Travelling with kids and education on the road…?

2. And what do you enjoy most on this travels?

Well the first one I will not go into it. But the second answer is what I want to share.

What I enjoy most about all our travels is when we first arrive and I go for that huge grocery shopping….lol!!!

Yes for my friends and love ones who knows me, I have an addiction for grocery shopping and cooking. And since with most of our travels I don’t get to have all the things I need to cook and explore my cooking skills….I have to now enjoy my next addiction of buying groceries.

Now while in capetown I loved shopping at the grocery stores.

In Nairobi I was so disappointed since they really had nothing in the grocery stores and if they had something I want, it’s way too expensive for my liking….so nairobi was not that exciting.

Then we hit Bangkok and the grocery store was huge, Large and just what I love to see….so many fruits and vegetables to choose and all you can think of.  Bangkok was awesome. My husband even enjoyed grocery shopping with me in bangkok at the farmers market….all the things you can taste while walking through the grocery store. So bangkok gets 2 thumbs up.

Now in phillippines am loving the SM supermarket. It’s a chefs dream grocery store. So many options from fresh seafoods and all you can think of under one roof.

Also I absolutely love night street food market that starts from 4pm till 3am and sometimes 6am.

Really am on a grocery shopping spree….

Some pictures of SM SUPERMARKET in phillippines.

image

Check out all the fresh fish…

image

Shrimps of all sizes….

image

Now this one was a shocker to me…they had about 15 different types of rice. And each one has some form of explanation and top favourite by most people….

Lots of options for travelling in Phillippines

Standard

So today we decided to venture out of our comfort zone of staying around our condo in Makati.

We went to Manila. And it’s pretty much like any central place in a country.

We first walked to the Malaysian Embassy to enquire about me getting a visa for our next country Malaysia.

It was pretty easy and simple and about 12min walk to the embassy from our condo.

So I  got the copy of what is required to get my visa and the visa fee is $6.60 ( that is the cheapest visa I have ever processed).

After, we ended up in Manila and marcus got his first hair cut in phillippines and I also got my hair washed and blow dry and flat iron. We both got a manicure and I also got a pedicure. Marcus also got his first shave in a barbershop. And all that total cost was $32……what!!!! And wow!!! That’s what I said….and that price includes a major tip. Am loving phillippines already…..

image

Marcus getting a clean shave…not sure what the towel suppose to do…but he loved it.

image

Time to get shaving….

image

My first super bright nails….new country, new colors…

image

Got my hair washed pretty good and blow dry and flat iron…

image

Our means of transportation…it’s a motor bike on the side…Marcus and MJ on it and the driver….so cool…this small thing can carry all 6 of us…

image

Am enjoying this city

image

We think we cool like that….we all about the Base no trouble…

image

Trying to get a taxi from Manila back to Makati was not easy since the traffic is horrible after work hours…

Over all great adventure today….

Will be riding the Jeepney with the family soon….you wondering what that is? Well then keep an eye on our travel blog.

Asian’s just love to shop….

Standard

So today being our only son’s 6th birthday we thought we will do something a little different like a visit to the world’s 3rd largest mall…Mall Of Asia..

Before I tell you about our day let me just give you what it takes for a mall to be the 3rd largest in the world..just some facts

1. Almost 4 hectares of floor area
2. 8,000 parking slots
3. 5,000 square meters alloted for public utility vehicles.
4. 100 slots  for tourist buses
5. Almost 1 kilometer in length and a perimeter of 2 kilometres.
6. 2 million bags of cement and 44, 000 gallons of paint use.
7. 407,000 square meter

Now that is a Mall….wow!!!! Am out of breath just typing…

image

Ok now let’s get back to the real deal…all about the birthday boy…

If you have been following our blog then you know that one of our objective in our travels is to make life long friends in each country.

And as we arrived in Phillippines we have already made a life long friend and today she came by and picked us up so we can go to Mall of Asia.

Now for our 6yr boy it’s all about buying toys…for his birthday we suprised him with a remote control car and he was so excited and was just ready to get out and start playing.

image

So after opening his first gift…he had another gift from his grandparents( Papa and Mema). So we presented that to him…see him show it off in the picture below

image

Time to go shopping for him…

So we took the bus…which I was so impressed by since it had aircondition and also had a TV with a resent movie playing The Antman. …

The trip from our apartment was about 30min. With a movie and an AC it felt short for us. LOL! !!

When we got to the Mall we all looked stunned since its the largest mall we have been too. Actually it can get overwhelming.

Over all we had an amazing moments at the mall. And here are some pictures to show how our day went and what our boy spent his money on…

image

Boy was having fun through the malls

image

It’s awesome doing this things but what make it even amazing is when you are doing it with your soul mate. …

image

And we had lunch at a fish and chips place..

image

So since his gift from his grandparents is in dollars…Marcus had to change the cash into Pesos…and there you see marcus kneeling to present the cash to our prince….

image

Going for a ride

image

image

Time to spend his money on exactly what he will love….

image

Too many choice to choose from….

I think this will be the one…am taking you home with me spongebob scooter…

The Manns are in Phillippines….

Standard

So wow…ok after 4 countries and 7 months into our 5yr travels we have arrived in Phillippines.

Ok now from the airport everything was smooth until the luggage porters came by to help….which I thought was very nice and that’s the job they do anyways.

Then they started counting our luggage and I thought it’s so we don’t miss any they where actually counting so we can go to their counter and pay $1 per luggage….lol!! At first I was furious and marcus was also furious. Then we relize it’s better this way for us no stress from tipping too much or too little.

Now it’s sunday so from the aiport to our apartment was about 20min driver. That was awesome for us.

Ok before I post pictures of our arrival and apartment….I need to share something that I think will help you when exiting Bangkok and you intend to claim tax refund…

When we got through immigration and walked to our gate which was closer to the tax refund desk…they told us they cannot refund until we get a stamp on the piece of paper before we checked in our bags….oh my was I disappointed….so just to let you know always get a stamp around the check in area before proceeding to the tax refund counter around your gate.

Ok now that’s done…where was I about phillippines…

So we are staying on the 26th floor of this beautiful apartment  in the center of town. Lovely area and has so many malls I don’t even want to start counting.

Pictures below

That’s the guest lounge in our apartment

That’s the name of our apartment

And that’s the entrance of our apartment

Our first grocerie….got to stock up the fridge…prices here are a bit high for food…Bangkok was cheaper.

But am assuming tomorrow I can find out where the locals shop for fruits and veggies.

So Phillippines is on and we are ready to rock this neighbourhood by the time we exit they will know The Manns clan….

Farewell Bangkok and Hello Phillippines

Standard

And as the countdown comes alive…we are all packed up and ready for our next country on this 5yr journey…

Here are some activities we did today as we bid goodbye to bangkok the land of day life and super awesome night life.

image

We say goodbye to Bangkok the Antman way…

image

Just another selfie day

image

A little extra silliness will help the departure moments…

image

And back at the same place it all started…2 months ago when we arrived in Bangkok that very evening we had dinner here by the street near our apartment. And today out last night before we exit bangkok we decided to spend a memorable moment with our favourite food joint. Mj our 5yr  boy is now comfortable and sat in a chair right in front of the joint.

I am so sure a lot of the Thai people around our apart will be wondering who happened to those unique looking family….well it was fun…

Our flight departs at 12 noon tomorrow sunday…

Bangkok exploration comes to an end.
We are grateful for one of most magnificent exploration in one country.
